Toorak College is an independent school from Early Learning to Year 12, with onsite boarding facilities. We are proudly co-educational from Early Learning until Year 4 and from Year 5 to Year 12 we take a girls only approach.
"We are not here to replicate the world, we are here to challenge it"Mrs Kristy Kendall, Principal
Teachers ignite our passion for learning, challenge our thinking and fuel our dreams for the future. Our teachers are experts in their field, who are passionate and committed to sharing their expertise with your child.
Small class sizes, with an average of 17 students, allows our teachers to know each child, identify challenges and strengths and tailor their learning individually.
Project Shine is designed to take our students on a journey that allows them to ignite their passion, capitalise on their potential, expand their vision and find their place in the world.
Toorak College has been committed to the education of girls for more than 140 years, shaping the lives of thousands of women to become capable and confident leaders.
As advocates for girls’ education from Year 5 onwards, we do not seek to replicate the world, we seek to challenge it by offering our students a safe learning environment where they are free to achieve their personal best and discover their passions.
Educational research and our experience tells us that single-sex education in Middle and Senior School years offers girls the greatest chance to defy stereotypes, develop strong self-worth and build confidence to thrive in school and beyond.
Girls in single-sex schools perform better academically than their co-educational counterparts.
Girls at girls' schools have "higher aspirations", "greater motivation" and are "challenged to achieve more than their female peers".
For girls, single-sex settings results in much more favourable attitudes towards mathematics and science related subjects than those in co-educational settings.
An all-girl environment allows girls to take on leadership roles in all areas of curriculum.
Single gender classes provide a learning environment where the female voice is not marginalised.
Toorak College is ranked as one of the leading primary and secondary schools on the Mornington Peninsula. We take pride in our track record of achieving outstanding results for our girls.
Toorak College celebrates some outstanding results from our Class of 2023 with 22% of our students achieving ATARs over 95, placing them in the top 5% of Australia and 37% of our students achieving ATARs over 90. This year's cohort has strengthened Toorak College's position as the leading school on the Mornington Peninsula.
We would also like to congratulate our 2023 Dux, Maria Suetin, on achieving a phenomenal ATAR of 99.45. Maria is off to study Science at the University of Melbourne. Our Dux Proximus, Youyou Zhu, achieved an incredible ATAR of 99.3 and is amongst the 19 Toorak students who achieved an ATAR over 95.
We couldn't be more proud of our Year 12 students who have role modelled for their younger peers that anything is possible. Through uncertainty and challenge they have shown that through intention and action, you can rise above and achieve great things.
